Cerebrovascular Accident Home Care
.
Cerebrovascular Accident (CVA), commonly known as a stroke. A stroke occurs when blood flow to a part of the brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. Brain cells begin to die within minutes, leading to potential brain damage, disability, or even death.
They are different types of strokes: Ischemic stroke is caused by blockage in the artery supply blood to the brain. Hemorrhagic is caused by a blood vessel in the brain bursts leading to bleeding in or around the brain and the least kind is Transient ischemic attack (TIA) a mini-stroke that has just a temporary period of symptoms like a stroke but without lasting damage. However, the symptoms vary on the types and severity of the stroke. Therefore, IMMEDIATE ACTION is needed when suspecting someone is having a stroke. Seek medical emergency immediately. Time is critical in minimizing damage and improving recovery chances.
